Posted - 24/02/2008 : 13:43:26 A Roman Holiday turned into A Nightmare on Elm Street (or Amberhill Way to be more precise) as a resurgent Metros team were out-fought, out-thought, out-played and out-classed by an efficient Boothstown team.
Things started badly when a poor kick out by Luke was run back in to the box by a Boothstown striker and unchallenged easily beat Luke who could only parry the ball in to the net.
This was the pattern for the whole of the first half as an efficient Boothstown team won more tackles, more loose ball and made use of a huge pitch and speedy centre forward to run in three more goals before half time.
Despite a half time roasting from Chris the Metros only really competed for the first few minutes of the second half, durinfg which time the Metros created only one good chance and Boothstown ran in four more goals.
From memory at least 3 of the Booothstown goals were rebounds after intial save from Luke, emphasising Boothstown's greater desire.
There were acouple of bright spots in a game as grim and miserable as the weather, Tom put in a few good tackles and distributed the ball well, and Mattie had a fine game at both full-back and centre-half.
All in all this was relegation material, and all last weeks good work was thrown away.
Champagne Moment: None!
Man of the Match: – Mattie - head and shouldees his best performance all season.
Parent's Man of the Match: Any thoughts?.
Referee: 9/10 – I thought him a little fussy at first but he had an excellent game.
Team homework: Back to basics I'm afraid.
Squad: Luke, Jonathon, Hash, Calum, Matty, Joe, Patrick, Ben F, Kenny, Harry, Eddie, Josh, Tom M, Tom F, Ben W & Oliver

Posted - 25/02/2008 : 20:02:21 hi guys,
As Rob said back to basics on thursday at training but we need it. I agree that Matt should be man of the match. He ran his socks off and put in some crunching tackles(well done) .
See you all on thursday.
Calum. |

Good to see Matt(y) online - what did the other Metro players think?

Posted - 24/02/2008 : 17:44:28 I agree that we did not play well. I think the team could do with going over tackling, passing and improving fitness. The ball should have been passed up front to Eddie and Kenny who could have had a shot on goal.

Regardless of that, there's not much in the way of positives that can be drawn from this match. Best just to draw a line under it, learn from it, and work hard to improve next week.
Agree with Matt as choice of Man of the Match.
p.s. You missed Oliver from the ever expanding squad list! |
