Posted - 19/02/2007 : 12:17:19 Cougars 4 Ashton 1 Another convincing scoreline but this time the performance was not there to match. Too many "half-term heads" as the boys' play reflected a holiday mood.
It took a searching opening 15 in which the visitors took the lead from a well struck drive to wake up the Cougars. Even then their play never matched the fluency of last week, but did show the strength of their resolve. It took a moment of fortune to get them level as Caullum Francis' 25 yarder spun off the keeper, onto the post and into the net.
A second soon followed as Daniel Ellaby coolly side footed a loose ball past a crowd of players into the net, putting the Cougars in control. It was left to "man with a mission" Tom Cox to round things off. Playing against schoolmates, Tom got his first with a coolly taken finish after intercepting a pass and rounding the keeper then scored an emphatic penalty after himself being brought down.
MoM: Tom Cox- a hat trick last week and a brace this week- he's on fire!
