For long periods of the game the Falcons acquitted themselves well against De La Salle - a team new to the T&DJFL and who had won the league and cup double in the Salford League last season.

While the Falcons were on the backfoot for most of the first half three guilt edge chances gave the Timperley side the opportunity to go in at half time more favourably placed than the 0-3 scoreline suggests. Two goals for the Salford side early in the second half effectively ended the Falcons hopes of victory, but to the great credit of the team they battled hard and netted two late goals to give a final score of 2-6.

Despite the scoreline man of the match was the Falcons keeper Danny, who made many memorable saves throughout the 60 minutes.

The classy performance of De La Salle showed they would be one of the title challengers this season and again demonstrated the big leap in standard that the Falcons need to adjust to in the top division.

However the Timperley side again could take many postives from the game- a top class goalkeeping performance , a battling rear-guard action from the defence, a hard working effort from the midfield and two goals from the strikers.

Training continues at Timperley Sports Club on Tuesday at 6pm.
