UNICORN TIGERS 0 - 3 SOUTH MANCHESTER

A late kick-off was arranged for the game so that the Forest Boys could compete in a cross-country run before the game - ah the joys of youth. After that it was a disappointing day for the boys but they will have learnt a lot from this game. The Tigers were undoubtedly the better side and played football as it should be - a bit like watching the old Wimbledon against Brazil.

The game started with The Tigers in control but it was South Manchester who took the lead albeit by an own goal. They continued to play football against a team who it has to be said were a little physical to say the least.

The second session was like the first only for South Manchester to score from the penalty spot to increase their lead. I think that is the first penalty we have conceded so we cannot complain too much. Joe did his impersonation of Dudek but to no avail. There were shades of last week here with a strong fighting spirit on show only for them to concede a late goal after Ben C was bundled off the pitch in a rather robust challenge. Hope Ben recovers fully for this weeks' match.

All in all a very good performance marred only by the result. Some very creditable performances by all the team - especially by Sam, Ruori and Joel.

This Saturday we are at Ashton which promises to be a good game if last year is anything to go by. If I am looking weak on the touchline it is not because of Friday night but most probably the flu jab I will have had that same morning. A bacon barm (with no butter) might put some strength into me. The joie de vivre was resumed this week immediately the whistle went as the muffins appeared at last! Please do not ask for autographs from our latest touchline TV star as he will only get embarrassed.
