Having won a point last week with 10 men the Metros decided to make life even harder and play this week with only 9.
Quite simply you can't do that in this league - and so it proved.
The Metros started where they left off last week and battled really hard. For 20 minutes the game was really tight - and the Metros managed to force Boothstown on to the back foot, maiking good use of the wind.
It was the Metros who struck first, a melee in the Boothstown penalty box ended with a handball and clear penalty. Mattie stepped up to score his second penalty of the season. (1 - 0  ).
As the half went on the extra men began to make a difference, and Boothstown struck three times before the whistle, at least one of which appeared to have been kicked out of Luke's hands. HT 1 -3  )
Realistically the Metros were playing for damage limitation in the second half but unfortunately Boothstown struck again soon after the break to take the game beyond the Metros - probably the goal of the game struck hard and true from the angle (1- 4  ).
The last thing that the Metros needed was to loose another player, so when Calum took a heavy blow and went down in the area the referee put his whistle to his lips as if to blow - then hesitated for long enough for Boothstown to score again. (1 - 5  ).
Three more goals came before the final whistle. (1 - 8  )
AS ever the team deserve credit for effort - the initial back four of Kenny/Cal/Jon/Hash look a very useful unit, Mattie had another good game in midfield where Joe got stuck in in an unfamilar role, whilst Harry and Pat showed glimpses of what might be to come if we can get a full squad out.
The lads naturally ran out of steam at the end - but must not let these defeats get them down as there will be better times to come when the squad gets back to full strength.
It would appear that Jake has left the squad, so we all wish him well for the future - but we now have only 14 players in the squad of which one has yet to appear on a Sunday - so realistically it is 13. Time for the lads to scour the playgrounds for new talent perhaps?

Referee: 7/10 - pretty good but missed a few tugs and kicks.
Team homework: Adding to the squad.
Squad: Luke, Joe, Calum, Jonathon, Hash, Matty, Patrick, Kenny & Harry. Good to see Ben down watching again - hurry back!!

Can't fault the players for effort, which for the most part matched that shown against Deans last week.
However Boothstown are, in my opinion, a better side than Deans, and that coupled with the extra missing man and the bigger size of our home pitch meant that there were more gaps and too many extra yards to cover.
I would urge the lads to try and remain positive (I know this is difficult) and to continue to work for each other as hard as they can. Even in heavy defeats such as this, each player should be able to look back on the game and find some positives to take away (a tackle made, a run down the wing....).
And collectively, as a team, they can be proud of the fact that they took the game to the opposition and even had the lead in the first half. The Boothstown coaches and parents were well aware of how things might have been different if their side hadn't had a numerical advantage....

A great report Rob, as usual
I wanted to point out that the result today really did not reflect the way the boys played at all. They were a credit to us all, playing their socks off despite being 2 lads down and no subs!!
So, a message from your number one fan .... you were winners in my eyes, you played as a team, worked together, and we are proud of you.
I think Patrick and Matthew were my men of the match, although all of the boys played so well, these two shone today.
It was lovely to watch you all play today, well done.
