Before the game a minutes silence was held in memory of the players and staff who lost their lives in the Munich air crash.
A heartening Eagles performance on a sunny day at Ashton - with the passing coming together in a superb team display against a determined and skilful Ashton On Mersey side.
Some geat chances were not converted in the 1st period, and even though the Eagles domninated the half it was 0-0 at half time. Soon after the break, Mark headed a great Dino corner home to make it 0-1, and then Charlie drilled a low shot from distance past the keeper to extend the lead. Eagles were cruising but it was Ashton who pulled one back when one of their players was adjudged to have been fouled just inside the box and the resulting penalty was converted. The Eagles went down the other end, and when Dino was upended by a combination of two players in the home box, Jack tucked the pen away to make it a final score of 3-1.
Ashton will take plenty from their performance today, they were quick up front and defended very well. Good luck to Stewart and the lads for the rest of the Season. But it was a great team performance from the Eagles. Now from a personal level, I hope for one blue win and one red win from this afternoon's premier league games. I will leave you guessing as to which blue & which red I mean!!!!
MOM:- Louis & Mark - Power, Pace and Panache in a joint MOM perfect performance!!! |
