1/15 The game started well with both teams testing the waters which resulted in a kind of “Tit-for-Tat” football. One of “Meadowsides” parents remarked that they had been psyching their children for the last few days in preparation for this game. As the game progressed the play switch from one end of the pitch to the other when ten minutes in Nathan had a shot that went just wide of their post and in the closing minute Sam had pull off a very important tackle.
2/15 The game started as the first halve had finished with both teams testing the others defense. Four minutes into the second quarter Kyle put a great ball through to Ryan, who saw that Benedict was free in space passed it and Benedict increased his scoring tally by one more. 1 :) 0 This changed the game play slightly because we started to take a bit more control of the game, not too much though “Meadowside” were still probing our defense. Ten minutes in and Nico took a shot which deflected and started to spin over the line, did it cross the line before the keeper stopped it, the ref thought not. The game stayed like this for the rest of the quarter.
3/15 Well this quarter started well with both teams still playing their hearts out, full credit to “Meadowside” they showed great character by not giving up and still believed they could save this game. Adam played very well in defense holding his position well. Twelve minutes into the third quarter Kyle had a great header that went just wide and just before the final whistle Ryan had a shot which the keeper, according to the referee, stopped before it fully crossed the line.
Vince’s Verdict
We for the second week running played some excellent football, however, our game had improved in that we held our shape better this week, I think we only got caught out once but we were able to get back and cover quickly. I thought that we had two goals disallowed
This was the most enjoyable game to watch. With both teams showing great character and team play. They were in my opinion the best team we have played in the either the cup or the league games. The attitude of the parents was friendly and encouraging.
I have to applaud both teams for the way they played and the attitude they displayed during the game.
