Unicorn Eagles 1 Urmston Meds 3 - Sun 20th April

A great game against the defending champions Meds Eagles saw the 0-0 deadlock broken with only 13 minutes to go when Meds scored to edge ahead in an evenly contested match. The Eagles attacked to try and equalise but of course were always going to have to be aware of the chance of a counter, and it was through one of these that the away team doubled their lead. The Eagles rallied, and Hussain pulled one back to make it 2-1 with minutes to go. The lads poured forward throwing caution to the wind, but a crucial interception of a (nearly) superb throughball was to lead the final twist in the tale, as Meds went down and scored with a well taken third. Final score 1-3.

With Jack standing in solidly for Willie in nets and Shaun & Sammy missing, the Eagles played with no subs, tiring in the latter stages. But they gave a great account of themselves against the team likely to finish runners up to De La Salle, and fully deserved the pats on the back at the end of the game.

Well done everyone!
