Wilmlslow Sports A 5 v Falcons 2

For the second time in four days the Falcons were matched against Wilmslow Sports who were riding high after a succession of impressive results had lifted them to third place in the table.

Again injuries and illness reduced the Falcons to a bare-bones squad of eleven players which was reduced to ten when Neal took a knock early in the second half and was unable to continue. Despite these difficulties the Falcons put in a massively improved performance from Tuesday night when they had been well beaten by Wilmslow.

With goals hard to come by in recent games centre back, Joel, was moved forward where he played with considerable skill and was rewarded with two well taken goals. In defence Danny continued to perform heroics in goal, Ben had a solid game out of position at at right back and Callum was strong in the tackle and good going forwards as ever. Late in the game when the Falcons pushed forward looking for more goals centre backs Sam and Kaylem held back the red Wilmslow tide superbly. In midfield James, Travis Dan and Neal worked hard against skillful opponents and Ashley provided some excellent link up play between midfield and attack as the game progressed.

As before, Wilmslow produced an attractive brand of passing football and fully deserved their victory. However, this time the Falcons created a number of scoring opportunities, which on another day could have resulted in a 5-5 scoreline.

Hopefully, injuries and illness permitting the Falcons will have full squad to pick from for next weeks match against Urmston Meds.
