Urmston Meds A 4 v Falcons 2

The Falcons completed their first season in the top flight of the T&DJFL with a high-class performance against Urmston Meds, battling well against one of the best sides in the league and only losing out when late goals took the match out of the reach of the Timperley side.

With almost a full squad available for the first time in six games the Falcons were able to rotate their squad and the benefits of fresh legs were evident throughout the game.

Despite shading the first quarter, the Falcons were unable to convert a number of clear cut chances into goals and were made to pay when Urmston struck twice just before the interval.

A 0-2 half time scoreline was harsh on the Falcons but they rallied superbly and when George scored a typical breakaway goal it looked like the Timperley side may a grab further goals to draw level or take an unlikely lead. However on the day the Urmston side were just too strong and despite a further goal from Joel, Meds ran out winners 4-2.

Although the season finished with a disappointing set of results the Falcons can look back at the 07-08 season with great pride, having established themselves as a team that can compete with the best sides in the area. Each player on the team has improved considerably from last season with the experience of playing against stronger, faster and more skillful teams and hopefully this experience will prove valuable for next season when the Falcons will look to improve on their mid table finish.

Enjoy your summer!!!
