Urmston Town 0 v Unicorn Falcons 2

In difficult conditions, with a strong wind blowing down the pitch, the Falcons turned in one of their best performances of the season, beating a hard working Urmston side who were given few opportnities by a classy Falcons defence.

Even with the blustery wind in their faces in the first half the Falcons dominated large periods of play with James, Neal, Travis and Ben playing attractive football and trying to pass to feet whenever possible. A rasping volley from Ashley drew an excellent save from the Urmston keeper who dramatically tipped the ball over as it flew goalwards through a crowd of players.

At the other end the Falcons defence of Danny, Haydn, Joel and Callum
secured their second consecutive clean sheet with an assured display of hard tackling and composure on the ball.

H-T 0-0

Having held Urmston in a goaless first half the Falcons were confident that they could exploit the wind at their backs after the interval. After a number of near misses the crucial first goal eventually arrived when Ashley turned and shot home superbly from the edge of the penalty area. With this goal under their belts the Timperley side then produced sustained period of attacking play which led eventually to their second goal when George tapped home from close range after the Urmston keeper fumbled the ball.

In he final minute Danny demonstrated his goalkeeping quality when the dived bravely at the feet of an on-rushing Urmston forward to prevent the home side getting on the scoresheet.

An great win in difficult conditions. Well done to all.

F-T 0-2
