The first half was all about experience, the Dads taking the lead - althoug young Kenny soon pulled it back to 1-1 following some inept goal-keeping from the self appointed goal-keeping coach - yours truly!
The Dads soon recovered and went in to a 3-1 lead which they took in to half time.
This is when things started to wrong. Perhaps it was the effects of too much turkey, maybe the provision of chilled bottles of Kronenbourg 1664, or more likely the shock transfers of Kenny Snr and Chris B to the Lads team but the second half was a different story.
The Metros found their passing boots and pegged back, 3-2, then 3-3 whilst at the other end some diabolical finishing (now we know where it comes from!) meant that the Lads were on the up when the traditional shout of "next goal wins" went up!
Although the Dads had the first chance it was skipper Shaun who applied the finishing touch to a flowing Lads move to give the Lads a 4-3 victory.
Post match analysis revealed that the Lads upped their workrate for this game - the big question is can they take it forward in to the New Year? Who knows - but all the very best to all the Dads, Lads, Mums, Uncles and sisters, and to all at the Unicorn club:
Matty Gribbon Eddie Lavers Rigden, Calum Rogers, Joe Young Kenny Goreham
Chris “Coach” Bowcott Hussein Simeen Roaring Keith Musscroft I (There’s no “I” in team!) Shaun Musscroft Touchy Feely, Ben Markland, Tom Arry Bolton Smallwood, Luke

I'm still re-living that last chance . Shooting practice for me at the next training session! My only excuse is that I was so shocked I'd controlled it in the first place.....
That aside, a thoroughly enjoyable game I thought. Looking forward to the next one already!
And thanks once again to Keith for the half-time "refreshments"
