In a thrilling match the Falcons ran last year's league and cup winners close in a game that could have been won by either side.
The Falcons began brightly and were unfortunate only have a one goal advantage for massive territorial advantage in the first twenty minutes - a cool finish from George who escaped the Urmston defence to slot home from past the advancing keeper (1-0). With half time approaching the Urmston side demonstrated why they are one of the class teams in the division by responding with two quick goals to take a somewhat fortunate half time lead (1-2).
With confidence growing the Timperley side deservedly drew level mid way through the second half when Travis chipped home majestically from an acute angle, to set up a grandstand finish to the game.(2-2) The match appeared to be turning the Falcon's way when they were awarded a penalty with 5 minutes to - however, the Meds keeper made a superb save low down in the corner of the goal - and things got even worse for the home side when Urmston broke quickly and regained the lead when a long range shot crept in at the near post. In the final minutes a harsh penalty against man of the match, Joel, was converted to leave a scoreline which did not do justice to the contribution that the Falcons had made to what was a gripping and high quality match. (2-4)
After last weeks creditable draw against A-o-M, the Falcons again demonstrated that they have the ability to compete against all the sides in the top division. With growing confidence the first win of the season will hopefully be just around the corner.
