B'Heath 'A' 3 Eagles 1 - LC Rd 1, Sun 7th October

Passion, Pride, Purpose

Three simple words I have highlighted. Read them again - Passion, Pride, Purpose. Broadheath had all three of those qualities today and fully deserved to progress into the QF of the league cup - a competition which has never proved a happy hunting ground for the Eagles in seasons gone by.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead after 5 minutes when a great Jack corner wad headed superbly into the net by Shaun. This was to be the highlight of the 1st half for the Eagles as Broadheath went on to dominate the play, winning every loose ball, passing well and battering the Unicorn team making them look a poor side, scoring 3 goals in the process.

In the second half the Eagles improved greatly but the damage was done and with the referee tending the give decisions in favour of Broadheath as the game wore on, it was no surprise when the game ended 3-1 with no further goals being score in the 2nd half.

The 1st half performance was not good enough. We have seen similar at times this season, but have tended to get away with it. The chickens came home to roost today. The team panicked, didn't listen to the manager's instructions and were well beaten. Many more performances like this one and a top three league finish will soon become a pipe dream. All the players can play football - and the management team will expect a better team performance next week against Barr Hill in the county Cup.
