The Falcons unbeaten 4 match run came to a disappointing end following a lack-lustre performance against, local rivals, Sale United.
Although the effort and committment of the team could not be faulted, the Falcons did not reach the heights of recent weeks because of a combination of determined Sale tackling and the wet and muddy pitch which hindered passing and basic ball control.
With the first half's final whistle about to sound, the Falcons conceded a poor goal which in previous weeks would have been cleared to safety.
HT 0-1
With the Falcons missing their normal cuting edge up front, goal chances were few and far between and it was liitle suprise that it took a penalty to level the scores, with James shooting home after Travis had been upended inside the box. (1-1)
As the game moved into its final five minutes the heavy pitch appeared to take its toll on the Timperley side and Sale were able to skip past some tired tackles to snatch two late goals.
While it was harsh to lose a game in this way, overall ther final result was a fair reflection on the Sale side's territorial advantage and goal chances created. In fact it took a number of marvellous saves by Danny in the Falcons goal to keep his side in the game during the the first and second periods.
Despite this defeat the Falcons can still be proud of their recent performances which have seen them climb from the bottom of the league into mid-table.
The Falcons next game is on 25th November in the County Cup against Barr Hill. Note kick off time is 2pm.
