After two postponements for flooded and frost-bound pitches this match proved to be third time unlucky for the Falcons, who were somewhat unfortunate to tumble out of the cup against a skillful and hardworking Deans side.
The Salford side shaded the first period and deservedly took a 1-0 lead when a whipped, inswinging corning was headed home superbly at the near post, giving defence and keeper no chance to clear.
After the break the Falcons started sluggishly and were soon trailing by two goals when the defence failed to deal with a through ball that was calmly slotted into the corner of the goal. Great saves from Danny and solid defending kept the Falcons in the match at 0-2, and having ridden a rocky period, the Timperley side hit back with a well taken goal by George. This set up a grandstand finish to the game and with Mason, Neil and Travis outstanding in midfield (and Joel having licence to move up front) it seemed that the Falcons may snatch a last gasp equaliser. However the Deans defence held firm to secure a place in the semi finals of the cup with 2-1 victory.
This was a great game played in an excellent spirit by two good sides. Congratulations to Deans on their victory - and good luck in the semis against Meds.
