Following last weeks disappointing result the Dragons were keen to get going again against Fletcher Moss C but unfortunately come 10 o’clock FM still only had 5 boys so the referee decided to wait for the remaining players. However after a further 15 minutes only one more had arrived so the game commenced with Dragon expectations high.

Perhaps it was the wait, the wind or the fact FM only had 6 however the Dragons started scrappily and the first real chance fell to FM who were moving the ball around neatly. Gradually though George started to make inroads down the left flank and was causing a real nuisance to FM's defence. First the keeper had to grab his shot from under the crossbar and then push another shot away for a corner but FM were still dangerous on the break and Jon had to marshal the defence well to repel the attacks. However from a FM corner the ball was not cleared properly and FM snatched the lead with a good shot. At least this seemed to wake up the Dragons and both Fraser and Reece went close. Jon then set Fraser free again with a great pass but his cross just slipped behind. However it was looking more positive now and after Mike had set off on a strong run, his pin point cross found George to score a well deserved equaliser. Unfortunately neither George nor Mike could convert other opportunities before the end of the period but at least the Dragons were back in it.

FM were back to full numbers for the second period so the game was now on but this period also saw the Dragon debut for Daniel on the right flank and it wasn’t long before his strength and pace were starting to cause problems. Mike then managed to find Matt in the box but despite two bites at the cherry he couldn’t get enough power into the shots and FM survived again. Adam was then called into defensive action and if it hadn’t been for Reece’s vital block tackle in the box FM could have well taken the lead again but Daniel was now the outlet for many attacks and he saw a good run and shot saved and then FM’s keeper managed to smoother Reece’s effort. At the other end Alex had to make a smart save but when Matt was tripped up outside the box when clean through everything looked in place for a Reece pile driver and he didn’t disappoint, however the ball took the slightest of deflections and ended up in the grateful hands of the surprised FM keeper. Grady and Adam were keeping the defence tight now and just before the break a great move between Dan and Matt set off Mike but he couldn’t quite convert the chance.

The last period opened with a great move between Fraser and Jon but this was quickly bettered when George found Fraser who supplied Dan to unleash an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box for his debut goal. It looked as though a winning result was now on the cards but as the Dragons needlessly pushed everyone forward it left a huge gap at the back and FM converted the 3 against 1 opportunity to bring the scores level at 2-2. Jon then had to produce a stunning tackle to prevent FM going in front but this seemed to spur the team on again for one last assault. Both Dan and Reece saw efforts saved but despite Adam driving forward the Dragons couldn’t score so had to settle for their first draw of the season. This was perhaps a game that should have been won but at least a point was rescued and promisingly Daniels debut has revealed an excellent mid season signing.
