This second round of Sylvan Cup matches saw the Panthers maintain their brilliant end to the season with a thumping win which could easily have been more emphatic!
Flowing, incisive football from the off resulted in a bewildhering 4-0 advantage after only 10 minutes with goals from James, Ben, a luckless Vics defender and a left foot cracker from Elliott, his first of the season.
Vics to their credit didn't give up and despite the Panthers looking assured at the back we conceded two well taken efforts and the league match which saw us draw 3-3 after leading 3-0 left us with a sense of deja vue!
Not this time though - Mark prodded in our fifth before half time to cap off a swashbuckling display of 'centre forwarding' - he was disappointed to only bag one goal but his overall attitude, movement and no little skill was tremendous.
The half time team talk to try to keep a clean sheet went out of the window early doors as Vics pulled another goal back and it looked game on as they were awarded a penalty soon after. Man of the Match Sam Speight pulled off a brilliant diving stop and followed up with another save soon after to retain our two goal advantage which skipper Ben soon extended to three with another well taken goal, followed up by Sam 'half a yard' Bywater wrapping up the scoring.
It is hard to do the team justice in a couple of paragraphs but the second half of the season has seen the boys mature into a hardworking, skillful and intelligent football team. George, Mitchell, Bysie, Evo and Andrew are knitting together well in front of Mr Dependable, Sam Speight. Ally, JP, Sam Trevor and the our solid three in the middle, Ben, Elliott and Sam Storey show tremendous effort, vision and no little skill whilst striker Mark is just awesome!
Two games to go in the Sylvan before our Cup Final with Wythenshawe on the 10th May - come on boys let's go for it - you deserve to end the season in style!
