BENCHILL CELTIC 9A 1 - 1 UNICORN TIGERS 9C
The game was played at St. John's School, Woodhouse Lane, Benchill. After three successive defeats the Tigers were still full of confidence against a very good Benchill team. Once again all eleven squad members turned up raring to go. A testament to their managers Phil and Steve. The game was played on a sloping pitch and the Tigers started off playing uphill - not that it should bother fit young kids. Benchill scored early on and as always the Tigers didn't drop their heads and fought back to equalise. Joel's shot beat the goalkeeper and was about on the line when his sibling twin Adam made sure of the goal. An argument was bound to ensue but Adam admitted the ball had already crossed the line. Their dad breathed a sigh of relief on that one. All in all the first session was equal. The second session saw Benchill get on top near the end and they even had a great shot against the crossbar. The Tigers fought back well in the third session and possibly ended the game on top. All in all a draw was a very fair result and a welcome first point for the Tigers. They had really played well and it was interesting to note that the team playing uphill in all three sessions had the better of the game. For once the cries from the touchlines of "Prickett Out" were silenced. The whold squad had played their part and their were sterling performances from Ben C, Sam, Joel and Tom. The team are now training indoors on a Monday night and again everybody turned up which is great for the morale of the team.
