Eagles 0 Deans 2 - Div 1, Sun 23rd September
The Eagles played some of their most controlled football of the season in the first half of the game but critically as it was to prove, could not convert a number of good chances in a 30 minutes they dominated. Just before half time Deans broke on a rare foray upfield to score a goal that defensively the Eagles rear guard should have cut out.
At half time the message was 'keep playing the goals will come'. For some reason the Eagles came out and could not get their game together while Deans, bolstered by the late first half goal, grew in confidence. Unfortunately, the Deans forwards made the best of the limited oppotunites in the game converting a second towards the end as the Eagles went looking for the equaliser.
Overall this was a game the Eagles could have won, based on the numerous chances in the 1st half alone, but Deans - always dangerous opponenents of quality - were not going to let the boys off the hook on this occasion. Well done to Ian & the lads on a good win.
MOM Andy Slater - played well in the game.
