Ashton on Mersey 4 v Unicorn Falcons 4
In a dramatic game where the lead changed hands three times the Falcons secured a well deserved draw against local rivals Ashton on Mersey , by equalising with the last kick of the game.
With the Falcons still attempting to acclimatise to life in the premier division, the match started badly for the Timperley side, who were 2 goals down in matter of minutes.
However this set-back did not affect the confidence of the Falcons, who dominated the remainder of the first half and were unfortunate to go into the interval 2 goals behind.
With George back in the side for his first match of the season the Falcons continued to create many chances and after many near misses and good saves by the Ashton keeper, they equalised with two quick goals from Sam and Ben.
With their tails up the Timperley side were soon dominating possession and it was no surprise when Joel blasted home a half volley with the outside of his foot from the edge of the box to take the Falcons into well deserved 3-2 lead. (A definite contender for goal of the season!!)
Ashton demonstrated why this is such a competitive league by fighting back and appearing to have taken all three points with a penalty and a lofted shot over Danny the Facons keeper. (3-4)
With the referee looking to whistle for full time the Falcons launched one last attack which saw James shoot home into the roof of the net from distance. (4-4)
A great game and a deserved point for the Falcons who showed that they can compete well against teams in the top division.
Brilliant!!
