Excuses first.

The Metros were without several key players, Ben with a broken arm, Eddie - hamstring, Jake with flu and Paddy away meaning that they could only field 10 fit players, including Matty who had taken the short cut down Rossendale Ski slope during the week. Two players who trained and signed on have yet to be seen on a Sunday for some reason too?

Praise where praise due.

The Metros went in at half time only 2-1 down, Jonathon having pulled a goal back with a long range speculative effort (are you listening Metros?) which beat the keeper, having been two nil down in a fairly even first half.

Yet again the crucial "next" goal went to Urmston, and only a few minutes in to the second half - had the Metros equalised I think the second half might have been quite different.

Harry exposed some poor keeping to pull a goal back but chances as ever were few and far between.

The extra man began to take it's toll, and soon Urmston were 5 - 2 ahead including yet another cruel deflection that saw Luke's hat thrown in to the goal mouth puddle in frustration.

That's not to say that the Metros gave up - but they were out numbered and out gunned.

Matty's injury forced him back in to goal, pushing Luke up front - and it neary paid off as he controlled a long clearance from Matty before playing the ball to Harry's feet - unfortunately his well struck shot clipped the bar and sailed over.

At the other end Urmston seemed to score on every attack as the Metros understandably tired in the final minutes, flattering a workman like Urmston Team and condemning the Metros to another heavy defeat.

Some heads were down at the end, in fact some dropped earlier - we need everyone giving 100% if we are to turn this season around - and it is never too late to start.

My Man of the Match: Hash - beginning to settle in at left back.

Parent's Man of the Match: I missed to post match chat - net duty so perhaps someone could fill this in? Harry certainly worked his socks off alone up front.

Champagne Moment: Without a doubt Luke trying to get in to Matty's shirt!

Referee: Modesty prevents....

Team homework: Challenging for the ball in midfield (that includes the forward(s)) and shooting from distance.

Squad: Luke, Joe, Calum, Jonathon, Hash, Matty, Patrick, Tom, Kenny & Harry.

You missed Tom off the squad list, who in my opinion turned in his best performance of the season, particularly in the first half, when he showed some nice touches on the ball from right wing.

Yet again the Metros didn't deserved to lose by such a heavy score-line. As you say the first half was very even - although Urmston probably showed more threat up front (same old story). That goal early in the second half was crucial.

And yes, the only way this season will improve is if every player puts in 100% effort for 100% of the match. Although statistics suggest otherwise, we have the makings of a pretty decent defence (and still in my opinion the best keeper in the league ), but the team won't start to reduce the goal deficit unless all the players in front of them chase, hassle and tackle for every ball.

I can't help with the Parent MotM as I was helping you with the net! But I'd go with Hash too - if only for two thumping headed clearances - more of the same from the other players please!

Oh, and the Ref? 8 (I'll leave it to you to guess out of what )

Apologies to Tom - who is now back in the roll of honour and the top nomination for PMoM (so far).

How odd but refreshingly different to mark the ref out of 8!!
