Falcons 3 v Deans A 2
Despite two high scoring victories in recent weeks the Falcons knew that they had to be at their best to compete against a Deans side that had finished runners up in Divison 1 last season.
After a slow start, which saw Deans holding a clear territorial advantage without creating any clear cut scoring chances, the Timperley side grew in confidence and after a period of sustained pressure it was no surprise when the Falcons struck twice, close to half time, with well fashioned goals from Travis and Ashley. (HT 2-0)
Deans showed why they are one of the top sides in the league by fighting back strongly at the start of the second half and were quickly level with a well converted penalty and a neat volley from close range.
Despite having lost a two goal lead the Falcons did not let their heads drop and with Neal, Mason, Dan and James dominating midfield they soon re-asserted their authority and re-took the lead when George broke clear of the defence to shoot home past the advancing keeper.
Strong rearguard defence from Danny, Sam, Joel, Kaylem, Haydn and Callum ensured that Deans were unable to strike an equalising goal and the Falcons were able to hold on for a memorable victory.
Overall this was a great game played in a good spirit by both sides which showed again that the Falcons are adjusting well to the standards required to compete in the top division.
Squad, Danny, Sam, Haydn, Joel, Kaylem, Callum, Dan, Mason, James, Neal, Travis, George, Ashley & Ben (injured for this game)
