Unicorn Eagles 2 Sale United 4 - Div 1, Sun 27th A
With the game moved to Beech field due to the fickle nature of the pitch at BTH, the Eagles were looking to put their recent poor run of results behind them with a visit fom Sale United. With Sale fighting to stay in the 1st division, and the Eagles clinging onto hope of finisihing in the top three, something had to give and it was a resillient and committed Sale that took the points on the day. The Eagles were 2-0 down at half time after slack team play led to avoidable goals being conceded.
Within eight minutes of the restart the Eagles were level with two quick goals in reply. The Eagles were dominant but again a lapse in defence led to a Sale 3rd and then to cap it all a bizarre goal that bounced over Willie into the net made it four.
Sale deserved their win - they needed the points more than the Eagles given their position in the division and it showed today. They played with purpose and had a strong desire to succeed. The Eagles must now focus their minds on Wednesday's away match against league leaders De La Salle and aim to put in a good performance.
