Jets Home to Broadheath B
This was the season finale; the last game; the summit of Jets Mountain. Could we do it, it was within our grasp we were so close to being champions; all the hard work done by Chris, Rick and the boys had brought the team to this point.

The whistle blew and my heart started to race their was a tension around the jets parents, we knew that what ever happened we would be through to the first division, but we wanted to finish as champions, actually that’s not right we deserve to finish as champions. We started reasonably well getting a break two minutes into the game when Kyle puts a great pass through to Nathan who buries it in the net 1 :) 0. Three minutes later and the Dynamic Duo are at it again Kyle puts through another good cross through Nathan but unfortunately his chip just goes over the crossbar. We then seemed to nod off collectively and let Broadheath back into the game allowing them to get one back after twelve minutes. 1 :( 1
Then Chris did his "wakey wakey" call to the guys and Will put a great ball into Ryanaldo who showed some fancy footwork but his shot just went wide.

The second period set off with an exhibition of good footwork from James a couple of minutes later Kyle did a great run and with great vision noticed that the keeper was well off his line and went for a long chip, unfortunately it was just wide. Five minutes into the second period James put a great ball to Kyle whose shot went just wide again. (At this point I am considering taking up chain smoking).A minute later we were awarded a throw in which Nathan took and found Kyle who shot was saved by the keeper; the loose ball was picked up by Sam whose shot was deflected by a defender (Pass the Bensons!). Nathan does a good run into the box but is brought down and we have a penalty, Nathan drives the ball into the net, nobody was going to stop that one! 2 :) 1
A minute later and Kyle has a crack at their goal, the keeper chests it down and Benedict picks up the free ball and makes it 3 :) 1.
Nico and Benedict then put a great one-two move together but again the keepers stops the shot. Sam puts a great ball through to Benedict who blasts and a defender stops it from making it four.

The game enters a “Tit for Tat” period. Then Ben has a go for glory and chips the ball but its just a little high and goes over the cross bar. They are awarded a free kick which is well struck but headed out to safety by Nathan Philips. Nico puts a great long ball through to Will who in turn passes to Ryanaldo whose shot is just wide. Two minutes later we have a corner; Ryanaldo places the ball perfectly for Nathan whose shot is saved off the line. They break away and looking to certainly to score when Nico comes across with a sliding tackle, unfortunately it is slightly miss timed and he brings the player down and they are awarded a free kick, a minute later the play reverts to the other side of the pitch where Ryanaldo pulls of a great shot and scores a great goal 4 :) 1
A minute later and Kyle does a great run down the wing and finishes with a good shot saved by the keeper but put out for the corner. Ryanaldo again places the corner ball perfectly this time Adam has a great shot on target that is saved Ryanaldo picking up the free ball and buries it in their net 5 :) 1. In the last moments of the game Benedict has cracking shot which is saved by the keeper.

I would like to thank all the players - Ryanaldo, Benedict, Nathan Phi, Nathan Par, Will, Adam, Kyle, Ben, Jamo, Nico & the Saminator for being brilliant all season - you thouroughly deserve your league title. Congratulation also to the Communities United team who pushed you all the way. Both teams deserve to be promoted to div 1.
Thanks to Chris & Rick for steering the Jets through the season and for giving up endless hours of their own time on behalf of the boys - much appreciated.
The cup final on the 18th May is a fantastic bonus - whatever happens it has been a dream of a season. Sam and I will always remember this year - I know the boys and their parents will as well.
100% commitment, 100% positive attitude, 100% skill. Thats 300% overall for the season, and I have added a discretionary 10% 'tip' to that score as a bonus so that's 330% on the 'MIGHTY JETOMETER' end of league season scoreboard. Well done....
