Unicorn Eagles (Vipers) 3rd In Meds Festival - Sat 17th May 2008
This week it was the turn of the Vipers to make it through the group stages and set up a meeting with Meds Eagles 'A' in their own back yard in the QF of the Meds Festival at Lees Field. The Vipers dispatched their rivals 1-0, after a 10 minute (2 x 5) game and had little time to recover before being beaten by an excellent Pearsons JFC outfit from Rochadale in the semi. The lads recoverd from that setback superbly, by winning the 3/4th place play off 'plate' against FC Sporting Sale - whom we appear to bump into at each tournament!
Well done to the Vipers and also to the Cobras who narrowly missed the QF's. Unlike some teams, we always try and pick 2 balanced squads for festivals and the results certainly bear that out, as either the Cobras or the Vipers have shared the spoils in tournaments over the last couple of years! It is the fairest way to approach short sided tournaments and works well. There is no elitism at the Unicorn Eagles - just a happy, friendly, great bunch of lads & parents enjoying themselves.....CHEERRSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
