ST JOHNS FC 11A 4 - 1 UNICORN TIGERS 11C
Welcome back to another year of nugatory ramblings by myself. First of all I would like to welcome our new players namely Ben, Kareem and Umar along with their families. It is also a good time to give thanks and good luck to our outgoing players - Jake and Seb. I'm not sure which category Ruori fits into at the moment. There has also been managerial changes. Mr Prickett has been moved upstairs like a feudal lord (aka Mr Wise) and Mr Busby steps into his shoes as the messiah (aka KK). I will endeavour to do an in-depth interview with both of them over a few wife-beaters during the coming season. This year we are playing nine-a-side with offsides coming into play and no passbacks, during two halves of thirty minutes each.
This Sunday produced an entertaining game in which the Tigers deserved to get something from. Early chances were missed and the The Tigers were made to pay when St Johns scored the opener. It was a very even contest in the first half with both goalkeepers playing their part to keep the score at 1-0. Ben C went off injured early doors and let's wish him a speedy recovery. I do love listening to the hackneyed comments from the touchline.
Steve tried hard to muster his troops at the half-time break and it showed as they took control of the game in the second half. But as it always happens SJs caught us on the break and their forward scored a cracking solo goal as his two team mates were shouting for a pass. SJs then went on to score their third through a defensive mistake. As always the Tigers never gave up and still they tried to get back into the game with only their little goalie stopping them. Joel did manage to pull one back and game on I thought until SJs scored their fourth. There were some good performances from the boys especially by Joe in goal. They may have tired late on but we'll soon get them fit. The Tigers probably deserved a draw from this and so let's look forward to our home game this weekend against Sale United.
