De La Salle 4 v Falcons 2
A great battling performance from the Falcons saw the Timperley side run last years league winners close, with the decisive fourth goal only arriving in the closing minutes of the game.
The first half was largely played in the Falcons half but heroic defending from Danny, James, Kaylem, Sam and Joel meant that De La Salle went into half time with a slender one goal adavantage. Despite leaking two quick goals after half time the Falcons refused to yield and strikes from Ashley and Eddie reduced the arrears mid-way through the second period to 2-3. With the midfield of Jamie, Mason, Haydn, Tom and Ben increasingly dominant it looked for a short period that the Falcons may gain an unexpected equaliser. However, the home side showed their quality by shooting home a fourth goal with three minutes to go to make the match safe.
Congratulations to the referee and both sides who took part in match without a single foul.
With only twelve squad members available (and two of those carrying injuries), the Falcons involved showed tremendous determination and skill to compete against one of the best sides in the Manchester area. Hopefully this can be replicated in next week's cup match against South Manchester when hopefully there will be a full squad available for selection.
The Falcons players, parents and coaches wish Travis all best following his departure from the team this week.
Having lost two players in recent weeks, the Falcons are looking to recruit new squad members.
