UNICORN TIGERS 11C 0 - 2 SALE UNITED
There was a song in the Good Old Days about being the best supporters in the land - when we win - but we're a right load of whatsits when we lose. What fun it was in those days but in the year 2008 to be given a compliment from Peter, the Sale United manager, that The Tigers' fans were a credit bought warm cockles to your heart. Well done parents (and Nigel for keeping his cool*).
This was our first home match of the season. The location is good but what we miss is the girls serving the bacon butties especially on a Sunday morning. This is not a hint to our mummies - honestly - but tin foil can keep them warm. (No butter and a sprinkling of HP brown sauce just in case).
The first half should have seen The Tigers taking the lead when Joel hit the crossbar but as usual they were punished when SU took the lead. It was an even first half in which both teams tried to play football the correct way.
It must have been a jocose weekend for referees. What with the man in charge at the Watford/Reading game - we suffered as well. With the game fairly even and the Tigers looking like they could take something out of the game the referee decided to end it by awarding SU a penalty for handball*. An unbelievable decision. This finished off the game. The best team probably won but it may have been interesting if the extremely dubious penalty wasn't given.
See you all on Sunday and remember no applauding the opposition.
