Falcons 4 v South Manchester 6
The Falcons crashed out of the County Cup in the first round when a superb second half fight back was not enough to overcome a disappointing first half performance which saw, fellow division 1 side, South Manchester establish a decisive 5-1 advantage. High quality forward play before the interval, which saw six attacks converted into 5 goals was harsh on the Timperley side who had periods of territorial superiority but missed a number of goal scoring opportunities at key moments.
A massive improvement in work-rate, committment and passing football saw the Falcons fight back strongly in the second half reducing the deficit to 4-6 at the final whistle - with goals from Ashley (2), Kaylem and Tom.
Despite the defeat the Falcons were able to take many positives from the game; winning the second half by a margin of 3 goals to one ; solid performances from newcomers Jamie, Tom and Eddie ; strong running from Ashley, Mason and James; and the return of Neal after injury.
The Falcons also took the opportunity to welcome Shaun to the squad after his move from the Eagles.
By co-incidence the Falcons take on South Manchester again next week in a division 1 fixture. Hopefully the Timperley side can build on their strong second half showing and get a positive result from the game.
Team - Danny, James, Joel, Sam, Haydn, Tom, Jamie, Mason, Neal, Kaylem, George, Ashley, Eddie
