The opponents for this round of the county cup were another team from the the Tameside league (Medlock Rangers A). From a quick look at the FA website for their league it looked like it should be an interesting game.
The visitors started strongly and put us under Immediate pressure from the kick off. It wasn't long before we kept up the tradition of gifting our opponents the easy early goal we have become famous for.
Medlock were playing some really good football and for the first ten minutes or so we were hanging on.
A couple of changes to the formation made the team look a lot more balanced and biting in midfield. It wasn't long before Will had pulled us level and this seeemed to really affect the Medlock players who had been in control of the game for such a long period.
After the equalizer we started to get our head arounf playing football again and started to pile the pressure on. From a well worked move down the right-hand side a shot form Thomas was handled by a Medlock defender he hit the ball home just as the ref had blown for a penalty. Thomas took the penalty and just managed to squeeze it under the keeper who made a great attempt to keep it out.
The remainder of the half was spent pretty much in the Medlock half and the Cougars pushed for another goal. Again from the right Jamie slotted the ball home for us to take a two goal lead into half time.

The second half and Medloack had obviously listened to their manager and came out with all guns blazing putting Alex and his defenders under pressure after winning the ball back after a unicorn kick off.
It was a great battle in the second half with Medlock playing some nice football and doing everything but score. There was plenty of stout defending from the back four and the midfield and on occasion we did put them on the back foot. Alex made a last gasp stop to prevent them making it difficult in the last five minutes and the whistle was greeted with lots of cheers from the Unicorn side of the pitch.

A well deserved victory and come abck after the dissapointment of last weeks game against Stretford. Hopefully we can build on this win in both the league and the cup in the next round.
You never know our name could be on this one.
